Meet the Coaches

G-FORCE Field Hockey has a highly qualified coaching staff, consisting of former international players, college coaches, high school head coaches and elite college players. Each coach is well-trained in the most innovative and latest techniques in field hockey. The coaches are also monitored to ensure that they are upholding the standards that have been established by G-FORCE, to give players high-level instructions and motivation. 
Collectively, our coaching staff has competed or coached field hockey internationally in six of the seven continents in the world. With such vast wealth of coaching knowledge, and playing experience, G-FORCE encourages and maintains field hockey excellence in every aspect of the game. 

Our elite coaching staff brings a wide range of international coaching knowledge and coaching techniques from some of the top leagues in the world. Some of the regions where our coaches hone and applied their international skills are Holland, Germany, England, Africa, United States and the Caribbean.

Leroy Mayers Director/Lead Coach

Coach Mayers leads this distinguished group of coaches with over 25 years of playing and coaching at the international level. G-FORCE Field Hockey structures and develops our innovative training programs in relation to the high-level skills required to be elite players. 

He'salso a former assistant coach at Ramapo College. He was instrumental in helping revitalize the Road Runners field hockey program in the four years he served at Ramapo College. 

Coach Mayers was a member of the Barbados Junior National and Senior National squads from 1988 to 2003. 
Coach Mayers, later committed his trade to USA field hockey, also spending time training at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego from 1994 through 1998. He was also a member of the USA East team that won the Bronze-medal at the 1994 US Sports Festival.

And in 1995 at the US Sports Festival held in Colorado, Coach Mayers was instrumental in helping the USA East team capture the coveted Gold Medal. 
He was a Gold Medalist in 1997 competing in the Caribbean Championships in Barbados and a Silver Medalist in 2002 at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) games in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Mayers also played in the 2003 Pan-American Games in Santo Domingo. Coach Mayers has competed internationally in more than 15 countries in the Caribbean, North America, Central and South America and Europe.

Coach Mayers graduated from Rutgers University in 1994 with a B.S. in Computer Science and received his Masters in Computer Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in 2002.

Greg Best - Lead Coach - Goalie Specialist

Coach Best is also a former assistant coach at Ramapo College. During his three (3) years as the goalie-specialist coach, he transformed the Road Runners goalies into formidable opponents. Under Coach Greg's direction, the goalies recorded the most shutouts in the schools field hockey history; also capturing the coveted player of the week honors in the conference.

Coach Best brings with him a wealth of playing and coaching experience at the highest levels. He was a member of the team that represented the United States in the inaugural Pan-American Club Championships in Kingston Jamaica in 1999.

Coach Best has competed in numerous international tournaments throughout North America and the Caribbean. Since 1995, he has won four league titles and five Playoff Championships as a Member of Tri-State Falcons field hockey team.

Coach Best determination and dedication during his playing/coaching career have enabled him to win multiple Tournament Championships and garner numerous awards. One of the most notable championship victories was in 2005, when he systematically led his team to lift the Championship trophy at the Banks International tournament in Barbados. He was recognized as one of the Most Valuable Players in the tournament.

Coach Best has a B.S. in Telecommunications.

Sam Landwehr - Coach

Sam is a current student at Montclair State University, pursuing her Master's degree inClinical/Mental Health Counseling.Sam graduated from Pompton Lakes HighSchool in 2010, where she was a 4-year varsity starter and helped the Cardinals win two county championships and two consecutive state sectional titles. Sam went on to play for National DIII Powerhouse, The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), where she was an integral member of the 2010 NewJersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championship team. Field hockey has always been Sam's passion and she is an excellent addition to the G-Force coaching staff.

Kelly Gawron - Coach

Coach Kelly graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2014, where she was a four year starter for their field hockey team. She was a defender and a captain her senior year. 

She graduated with a bachelor degree in Psychology and a minor in Health. She is continuing her education at Montclair State University to earn her Master's degree in Nutrition and Food Science, and aspires to become a registered dietitian. 

Last fall she was instrumental in developing and shaping the success of the Junior Varsity field hockey team at Northern Valley Demarest High School. Kelly brings a wide range of field hockey skills and knowledge to the players of all ages. Her knowledge and creativity in her player development programs are exceptional.

Alyssa Stock - Coach

During her high school years, Stock was an active G-Force player since its inception. She participated in the elite travel team and various college showcase tournaments, including Festival where she made multiple college connections and met her future college coach. 

Alyssa Stock played for SUNY New Paltz for 4 years starting every game in her career. Her play and leadership was instrumental in New Paltz’s two conference championship titles and two NCAA tournament appearances, serving as captain in her junior and senior years. 

She was named team MVP in her senior year, and was selected to participate in the NFHCA NCAA Division III Senior Game. Throughout her collegiate career, Stock has gained All-Tournament, All-Conference, and All-North Atlantic Region laurels. In addition to her athletic achievements, Stock’s academic performance also excelled, awarded with NFHCA National Academic Team and SUNYAC Commissioner’s List and All-Academic Team membership. 

Stock was awarded various honors for her leadership, receiving the SUNY Chancellor’s Award, the Heinz Alhmeyer Award, and is recognized on the Walls of Leaders in the halls of the New 
Paltz Athletic Center. 

Stock served as a student assistant coach to SUNY New Paltz Field Hockey in 2014, during which the team won its third consecutive conference championship title. Stock also was a coach for Hawks Field Hockey Clinics and Camps in New Paltz, NY. Stock also served as a Level 1 
Futures Coach from 2012-2015.

Sarah Pasternak - Coach - Goalie Specialist

Sarah is currently a goalie for the Immaculata University field hockey team. She helped the Mighty Macs reach the Colonial States Athletic Conference Semi-Finals both of her first two seasons. She was named to the Honorable-Mention All-CSAC team in 2013, and the Second-Team All-CSAC roster in 2014. Academically, she was named to the Fall CSAC All-Academic and NFHCA National Academic teams in 2013 and 2014, and as an NFHCA Collegiate Scholar of Distinction in 2013. She was recognized as a Philafieldhockey.com Student-Athlete in the 2014 season. In addition to Athletics work-study, she is a Student Government Class President, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative, and New Student Orientation Leader. Sarah anticipates graduating Immaculata in 2017 with a certification in English and Secondary Education, and a minor in Communications. 

Sarah is a 2013 graduate of West Essex Regional, where she played four years for the field hockey program. She switched to goaltending in 2009, when she won the Coach’s Award with W.E. and began playing with G-Force Elite. At W.E., Sarah aided the team’s claims for County and Sectional State Titles. With G-Force, Sarah appeared in goal for 3 National Indoor Qualifiers as a 2-time captain, 1 National Indoor Tournament, 1 National Field Hockey Festival in Arizona, the inaugural National Club Championships, and 2 Disney Showcases where her team won a Bronze medal in 2012.  Coach Pasternak was also selected as the USA Field Hockey Association player of the month in May 2012. 

After playing countless levels and tournaments with G-Force and following their “3 Ts” philosophy, Sarah has enjoyed coaching both goalie and field players with G-Force and at various camp/clinic locations since entering her collegiate career. 

Alison Tetla - Coach

Coach Tetla has been an integral part of her high school success and legacy during her 4 years playing for one of New Jersey's powerhouses, Pompton Lakes.  Her success saw her garner many distinguishing honors, including All Conference and All County selections. As a senior, she led her team to another championship season.  Coach Tetla has been an integral part of the player development process at G-Force since 2011.  She continues to work her magic at clinics, local tournaments, and National Hockey Festival.
